Finding the right home takes patience and a little homework. Even when you’ve narrowed it down to the Stone Oak lifestyle, you find that there are so many options to choose from. So, I’ve provided you with a handy San Antonio house-hunting guide to help you keep all your choices organized. When you’re done looking, you can weigh each option carefully before making a final decision.

Do you want to live the Stone Oak lifestyle? When you do your San Antonio house-hunting, make sure you bring a notepad and pen to take notes on each property you see, your smartphone (for pictures), measurements of large furniture you currently own, wear comfortable shoes, and make a list of absolute "must haves".

Before you embark on your San Antonio house-hunting excursion, take a list of properties with you. Keep your travel time to a minimum by dividing up the homes you want to see into groups based on their location. Visit homes in one neighborhood one day. Then go to another neighborhood to see more the next. You can perform a search online yourself or let me do the searching for you.

Then, make sure you bring a notepad and pen with you so you can take notes. List everything you like and don’t like about each home you visit. It also helps to take photos for a better recollection (yay smartphones!). After even a short a while, they can quickly blend into each other in your mind. Therefore, photos can be a godsend. Also, if you have large furniture (TV, piano, extra large dining table, California king bed, oversized sofa, etc.), bring a tape measure as well as a list of the measurements for each item. That way, you can make sure that your current furniture will fit in the space provided at your new home.

Next, wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off. When doing your San Antonio house-hunting, you may need to take your shoes off at the door. Sandals and slip-on shoes make this easier. Also, wear comfortable socks so your feet stay nice and warm.

Finally, be prepared to compromise. The point of your San Antonio house-hunting is to find a property that you’ll be happy living in. Unfortunately, the chances of finding everything on your wish list is slim. Decide which items are non-negotiable and which can be set aside. For example, you found the perfect Stone Oak home but it doesn’t have a deep soaking tub in the master bath. Or, the backsplash in the kitchen isn’t up to your standards but the rest of the house is stunning. These are simple things that you can change at any time.
