I certainly hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween last week. As the year comes to an end, we'll be seeing dozens of holiday celebrations taking place around the City. This year, San Antonio celebrates its 300th birthday. To honor this milestone, the San Antonio Luminaria Arts Festival 2018 pays tribute to the City's long history with wonderful works from local artists. And it's absolutely free to see for all residents and visitors this weekend.

San Antonio Luminaria Arts Festival 2018
San Antonio Luminaria Arts Festival 2018 features more than 50 local artists utilizing various media for their craft. Become a VIP for $250. This allows you access to a special preview night on Friday, November 9th. At the preview, enjoy three separate artist experiences while enjoying tastings of food and drink from three local restaurants. Your VIP ticket also entitles you to the VIP suites on Saturday night with more tasty treats from other local restaurants. When you're a VIP, you get to participate in several other Luminaria events throughout the year as well as meet and mingle with the artists at each event.
Downtown San Antonio lights up at Saturday night's Luminaria Arts Festival 2018. Performance artists take to four separate stages. Take the family on an illuminated art walk. Collect stamps in your "passport" along the art walk for a chance to win a $100 HEB gift card or other prizes. Wear a creative costume to Light Up the Night. Take photos of your adventures throughout the night. Post them on your Instagram story using #Luminaria2018. Make sure to tag @LuminariaSA (after you've followed them, of course). By 11 pm on Saturday night, a winner will be announced. The prize won't be announced until they name the winner. Last year's winner won an entire year of Whataburger for free. And those are just a few of the things happening on the festival's main night.
Sunday morning, visit the Artists Market. Do a little early Christmas or Hanukkah shopping. Or, grab a birthday present or hostess gift for one of the holiday parties you're attending. For $35 per person, reserve your spot at one of three Artists' Brunches: Migration, Legacy, and True Stories. All afternoon, artists will be hosting several workshops on various topics, including hip-hop music, flamenco dancing, paper cutting, glass blowing, and luminarias (paper lanterns). They suggest a $5 donation be made for any workshop you attend. This helps cover the costs involved in hosting the Luminaria Arts Festival 2018.
The festival ends with a special Tricentennial birthday celebration featuring Agarita's fun take on classical music. The backdrop for the closing performance is the Mission at San Jose. You won't want to miss a moment!
No matter what day of the San Antonio Luminaria Arts Festival 2018 you attend, you're sure to experience nothing but joy. Encourage a love of the arts in your children by bringing them to the festival, too. You'll all have a great time!
