As the end of 2018 approaches, it's time now to take down your holiday decorations. Consider it one of the ways you can prepare for the new year. When trees dry out, they quickly become a huge fire hazard for your Stone Oak home. Therefore, disassembling and disposing of them needs to be your top priority. Regular grey trash bin pickup won't accept Christmas trees left at the curb. But if your household utilizes a green organics collection bin, you can cut up the tree so that it fits inside. Then, set it at the curb for the normal pickup. Another eco-friendly way to dispose of it is to bring it to one of the nine different San Antonio Christmas tree drop-off locations and turn it into mulch.

San Antonio Christmas Tree Drop-Off
If you purchased a live Christmas tree this year, don't just toss it out in the trash. Bring it to one of the San Antonio Christmas tree drop-off locations over the first two weekends of 2019. San Antonio's Solid Waste Management Department takes all the trees they collect over those two weekends and turns them into mulch. In turn, they invite the public to come pick up the mulch to use in their own gardens, flowerbeds, and other areas around their homes.
When you drop off your trees, make sure to take all decorations, lights, wires, tinsel, and stands off of them (even if the stands are made of wood). If your tree stands stands more than six feet tall, please cut it in half. Do not bag any of the branches or trunk. This event only pertains to live trees. The locations will not accept any wreaths, garlands or other holiday plants. The public can come pick up their free mulch at either the Bitters Brush or Nelson Gardens locations up to two weeks after each drop-off while supplies last. One of the locations is conveniently located to those of us who enjoy Stone Oak living...Stone Oak Park.
